Festival in wilderness showcases a blend of whimsy and charm, delivering a top-tier escape from reality
The Wilderness Festival, a celebrated event in the British festival scene, is gearing up for its return in 2026. Organised by Rory Bett, the festival aims to provide a unique and immersive experience that transcends the traditional music-focused lineup, offering a whimsical weekend in the countryside.
Located in a site of extraordinary beauty, the festival grounds have been transformed into a haven of art, wellness, nature, and dining. Every natural landmark has been decorated fabulously and excessively, creating a VIP feel everywhere. The feasting tent, for instance, has been designed to make attendees feel like they've always been there, while the new blackbox indie stage adds a fresh twist to the music programming, in response to attendee demand.
Beyond music, the festival offers a variety of unique activities and experiences. Wellbeing activities such as sunrise yoga, dynamic guided hikes led by Peloton instructors, and barre classes combining ballet and Pilates are available to help attendees relax and refresh. Lakeside Spa experiences, featuring saunas, hot tubs, showers, and glam bays, provide a wholesome and luxurious festival escape.
Gastronomic events, including exquisite long-table banquets and private dining curated by Michelin-star chefs, deliver a high-end food and music fusion experience. Theatre and arts performances complement the natural surroundings, offering a broader cultural experience. Family-friendly offerings, such as exclusive performances and interactive activities, make the festival suitable for all ages. Sporting events and various dance lessons also feature, encouraging attendees to engage actively rather than just spectate.
Rory Bett, the festival organiser, dislikes the festival's bouji reputation and wants to ensure that the festival is accessible to people of all income levels. He believes that festival culture is ingrained in the psyche of the country. Despite the struggles faced by the festival industry due to Covid and the cost of living crisis, the resurgence of the Wilderness Festival is considered inevitable.
Connections are easy to forge at the Wilderness Festival, with attendees making new friends and connections. Attendees can enjoy champagne at banquet feasts and from lakeside hot tubs, while the new Riddle nightlife area encourages dancing and connection over selfies. Great big disco balls are used for decoration, and trees are lit up in red and green washes of light.
Orbital, Wet Leg, Supergrass, and The Bootleg Beatles are among the acts performing at the Wilderness Festival. For more information and ticket sales, visit wildernessfestival.com.
