Farmers' Technique for Enhancing Humus Extract Yield from Compost
In the heart of rural Germany, the Henning family is making waves in the farming community with their innovative and eco-friendly approach to agriculture. One of their key practices is composting, a process that not only enriches their soil but also reduces waste and promotes biodiversity.
During the autumn months, the Henning's spread their compost on cover crops or in growing stands. This nutrient-rich compost substrate, which smells like the fresh forest floor thanks to actinomycetes, provides a vital source of nutrients for their crops.
The Henning's have taken their composting practices a step further with the use of a completely stainless steel-made compost extraction machine. This machine, a testament to their commitment to sustainability, operates according to the Schauberger principle, enriching the water in the reactor with oxygen in a vortex.
The Henning's also make use of their compost extract strategically, focusing on poor field sections that could benefit most from the nutrient boost. They apply approximately 140 litres per hectare of compost extract, a practice that has allowed them to successfully dispense with chemical seed treatments for several years.
The Horizon drill, a piece of equipment essential to their farming operations, is equipped with its own liquid tank for applying compost extract. This ensures that the application of the extract is precise and efficient, further enhancing the effectiveness of their composting practices.
Quality control is paramount for the Henning's, and they have an Austrian colleague who uses chromatography to ensure the final compost product meets the highest standards. The quality of their compost has also been endorsed by US expert Matt Slaughter, who found the result to be satisfactory.
However, there is one aspect of the Henning's composting practices that remains a mystery: the organization that trained Jonas Hennig in composting. Despite extensive research, no search results have been found providing this information. Regardless, the impact of the Henning's farming practices on sustainability and the environment is undeniable, and they continue to inspire other farmers to adopt more eco-friendly methods.
