Münster Building Association invites participants to a gratis music-infused picnic in Abteiberg's fountain courtyard on June 27, aiming to foster affection for the freshly remodeled cloister garden among locals in Gladbach.

Farmers in Münster, led by their association, are organizing a picnic and blues festival at Brunnenhof.

Exciting News for Gladbachers: The 27th of June is set to be a memorable night, promises Anne Baus, the head honcho at the Mönchengladbach Building Association. The transformed monastery garden, a labor of love with many generous contributors, aims to leave a lasting impression on the locals.

Following the success of the initial events, Anne is planning to take it up a notch. "Instead of the usual fancy shindigs, we're turning our redesigned fountain courtyard into a comfy picnic spot," she says, with aHint of excitement in her voice.

The courtyard will be spacious enough for everyone to spread their picnic blankets, set up tables and chairs, or simply come with high spirits and relish the food and drinks they've brought along—all while grooving to the music. Anne can't wait for the night, likening it to a massive family reunion. "A picnic in the heart of the city—it's never happened before. And we're proving that the fountain courtyard is for everyone," she adds.

Local band "Hier Geht Was" will be providing the musical backdrop, a group that's already a cult favorite in the city and beyond. Guitarist and musical trailblazer, Stephan Schwiers, has dreamt of using the fountain courtyard as an intimate venue for his Blues, Pop, and Folk quartet. "It's a fantastic setting, oozing history, the Lower Rhine vibe, and intimacy. The setlist for the night is already taking shape in my mind," Stephan reveals.

The band's tour schedule lines up perfectly for the event. "Our next gigs are lined up in the Pfalz by mid-July, making it a perfect fit for us," Stephan adds.

The picnic and blues event in the fountain courtyard is free to attend, with the expectation that guests will contribute to the upkeep of the fountain courtyard and monastery. "We won't have a strict entrance fee, but we'll have a bucket around for donations since the fountain courtyard and the monastery still need the support of the city folks," Anne explains.

The revitalized monastery garden will continue to serve as a hub for diverse gatherings and concerts. Anne hears praises from delighted visitors, who find the grounds a real showstopper.

The garden will open its gates on the 27th of June from 7 pm, and the entrance will be at Abteistraße next to the town hall. The other entrances to the fountain courtyard will be closed off for the evening. The concert will commence at 8 pm and end by 10 pm, to ensure we don't disturb the neighbors, Anne informs.
