Family of Four Completes Epic Two-Year Sail Around the World

A family of four has completed an extraordinary two-year, four-month voyage around the world by sailboat. Their adventure, filled with challenges and unforgettable moments, ended with a hero's welcome in Lisbon.

The parents, a watersports champion father and a manager mother, carefully planned the trip, ensuring their children's education and well-being never suffered despite the isolation of life at sea.

The journey began with excitement but soon tested the family's resilience. Severe seasickness struck some members early on, forcing them to adapt quickly. Over time, they found their rhythm, balancing daily routines with the unpredictability of ocean life.

Margarida, the mother, took charge of meal planning, relying mostly on freshly caught fish. She also oversaw the children's schooling, ensuring lessons continued even in the middle of the Atlantic. Meanwhile, the children found creative ways to pass the time—their son built with Legos, while their daughter sketched fish, dolphins, and butterflies inspired by their surroundings.

Their return to Lisbon was nothing short of spectacular. A flotilla of over 100 boats escorted them into port, where hundreds of cheering supporters waited. Despite the hardships—endless waves, cramped quarters, and the constant risk of storms—the family described the experience as deeply rewarding.

Now back on solid ground, they admit they already miss the sea. Yet, when asked if they would do it all again, their answer was immediate: without hesitation.

The family's voyage covered vast distances, though the exact number of nautical miles remains unrecorded. Their story has drawn admiration, proving that even the most daunting adventures can become cherished memories.

For now, they are adjusting to life ashore, but the call of the ocean may yet bring them back for another journey.
