Exploring the Wonders of Nature: Uncovering the Beauty and Mysteries of the Natural World
The Astana Centralized Library System has initiated an eco-friendly book exchange programme, known as eco-bookcrossing, as part of the Taza Qazaqstan environmental campaign. This initiative aims to promote environmental awareness and sustainability by encouraging community members to participate in eco-friendly bookcrossing activities.
The eco-bookcrossing campaign, which will continue until the end of the year, is designed to take place within the Astana Centralized Library System. It encourages people to exchange books instead of discarding or storing them unused, thereby reducing waste and promoting a green lifestyle.
The eco-bookcrossing shelf serves as a shared space for library staff and readers to exchange books. The books on this shelf primarily focus on animals living in Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan's nature, nature reserves, and mountain regions. The exhibition also includes books about the plant world and children's ecological primers. To take a book from the eco-bookcrossing shelf, one needs to bring their own book on an environmental theme to exchange.
Beksultan Arystanbekov, Deputy Director of the Centralized Library System, explained that the event aims to educate the public about environmental issues. Sabina Kaikimzhan is associated with the eco-bookcrossing campaign. The organisers view this campaign as another significant step by Astana's libraries in caring for nature and fostering environmental responsibility among citizens.
The eco-bookcrossing campaign aligns with the broader objectives of the Taza Qazaqstan (Clean Kazakhstan) campaign. It aims to contribute to the overall goal of the campaign by promoting environmental culture through books. The main themes of this initiative include environmental protection, sustainable living, community engagement, and literacy and education.
Visitors can find books about the beautiful nature of Kazakhstan's regions on the eco-bookcrossing shelf. Olnakhon Onerkhan recently took a photograph for the eco-bookcrossing campaign. The campaign is an exciting opportunity for the community to engage with environmental issues while also enjoying a good book.
