Chickening Out the Golf Course: The Essential Items Every Lady Golfer Needs

Ever wondered what's hidden in a woman's golf bag? Well, you might be in for a surprise! Here are my top 10 must-haves that I, along with the ladies I coach, can't survive without on the green.

Tee-ing Off in Style

I'm a sucker for a vibrant tee peg! With my bag boasting a rainbow of paint-splattered ones, I'm not ashamed to admit I pick one based on my mood. I also keep the PTS castle tees in various heights. They're perfect for ensuring the tee is just right for the club I'm using and are particularly useful in hitting those mats when getting the height right can be a challenge. With a tee peg for every mood and every job in my bag, I'm never left wanting.

Marking My Territory

Identifying your ball is crucial, and I like to have a bit of fun with it. Did you know you can decorate your ball with anything you like? So I carry a couple of different colored Sharpie pens and my trusty PRIDE SPORTS ball line-up tool for those crucial short putts.

Fueling Up

Not enough of us take care of our energy levels on the golf course, but proper fueling can make a huge difference in mental focus and performance. MGP drinks have been my go-to for staying hydrated, and snacks like protein bars, grapes, and nuts in a Tupperware box are perfect for keeping hunger at bay. And don't forget, you shouldn't feel thirsty on the course because that means you're already dehydrated, so take little sips often.

Staying Chilled and Focused

Hay fever season gets tough on the eyes, making it hard to concentrate over the ball. I've found a cooling eye spray to be a lifesaver. A few sprays over each closed eyelid, and I'm back to my golfing best.

Taming My Mane

Keeping my hair out of my face is crucial so I can see the ball. I carry spare hair ties, a hat for shade, and a French roll as a backup when I forget one. Oh, and if all else fails, I'll use one of my colorful tee pegs as a makeshift hairpin!

Sun Protection

Sunscreen is a must, but I carry a small face sunscreen for areas like my shoulders and the V on my neckline. I also keep a long sleeve top for those extra scorching days. It's lightweight, well-ventilated, and offers excellent sun protection.

Wipes Away

Baby wipes are a lifesaver! They clean my hands after applying sunscreen, remove makeup, dust from my eyes, soothe them if they're itchy from allergies, and, if play is slow, even clean my golf shoes. I couldn't live without these wipes!

Clear Vision

I keep an old pair of golf-specific sunglasses in my bag, just in case I forget my good ones. Some of the ladies I coach carry a duster or cloth for cleaning their glasses, and a clear lens is a must.

Capturing Life on the Green

I keep a small circular tripod with a suction cup in my bag just in case I need to film my swing. It's perfect for capturing the right angles and can even attach to the screen of a golf cart. Handy for sharing content on social media and coaching videos!

Be Prepared for the Unexpected

Things like a tick stick and dog poop bags are often overlooked but incredibly useful. A tick stick ensures I'm safe from infection and disease if I play anywhere where deer live, and I always carry poop bags to help out fellow golfers and pick up after those inconsiderate dog owners.

First aid supplies in a small Tupperware box—like painkillers, antihistamines, plasters, and antibacterial spray—are essential for handling minor injuries. Trust me; it's better to be prepared.

So take a moment to check your bags and pack them with these essential goodies. As they say, "Fail to prepare is to prepare to fail," and I know the ladies I coach wouldn't dare be underprepared! You might even discover a few hidden gems when you least expect it.
