Emergency refugee accommodation on Slaughterhouse Road, labeled as "Bunter Tag" event
In a vibrant display of community spirit, the German Red Cross (DRK) Harburg recently organised a special event at the emergency shelter located at Schlachthofstraße (Ex-Fegro Hall) in Harburg. The event, dubbed "New Land is Colorful," was a day filled with fun and learning for both children and adults.
The main focus of the day was to provide a fun-filled environment for children, with a variety of activities on offer. Little ones enjoyed bouncing around on a bouncy castle, were captivated by puppet shows, and even had the chance to blow soap bubbles and get temporary henna tattoos.
Adults, too, had opportunities to engage and learn. Various initiatives such as Centra, SUCHT.HAMBURG, Erfolgswind, workeer, and JiA - Youth in Work, were present, providing information about dealing with trauma, language courses, professional development, and youth employment.
As the day progressed, the grounds transformed into a large playground, with a colorful carpet created in front of the entrance using spray paint and crayons. Later in the event, adults were invited to dance on the carpet, adding a lively and festive atmosphere to the day.
The event was supported by eleven cooperation partners, including In Via Hamburg e.V., Spielmobil Falkenflitzer, MIMI Die Gesundheitsinitiative Deutschland, Kids & Welcome e.V., and Dolle Deerns e.V.
Currently, 1,115 people reside on the grounds of the former Fegro Hall, and the DRK team is committed to making their stay as comfortable and supportive as possible.
Despite extensive online research, there were no specific results found about a "Colorful Day" event at this emergency shelter in Harburg, making this event a unique and memorable occasion for all who attended.
