Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi plan horse stables for Cotswolds estate
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi have submitted plans to build horse stables at their Cotswolds estate. The couple bought Kitesbridge Farm near Burford for £15 million in 2024 but left after just weeks due to flooding. Now, they aim to return long term with new equestrian facilities.
The proposed stables would replace an existing agricultural building on the site. Designed to match the farm's traditional style, they would sit centrally between the granary barn and byre range. Inside, there would be two loose boxes for horses and storage for riding equipment.
The £22 million property was previously listed for sale but failed to attract a buyer. Before that, the couple spent £7.5 million on renovations. Their representatives now hope planning permission will be granted quickly. Portia De Rossi's love of horses reportedly led to their swift departure last year. While the exact number of horses DeGeneres currently keeps at the farm remains private, the new stables suggest a long-term commitment to the estate.
If approved, the stables would allow the couple to settle permanently at Kitesbridge Farm. The design focuses on blending with the existing buildings while providing dedicated space for their horses. The project marks another major investment in the property since their purchase.
