Senior and Disability Commissioners Enjoy Excursion in Weiden

On Friday, September 12, 2025, around 30 senior and disability commissioners from the county council in Regensburg embarked on an excursion to Weiden, Upper Palatinate. The trip was organised by the department of support in difficult life situations - care support point plus, with the aim of bringing the county council's offer to the people and learning about local needs.

The day's events were eventful and relaxed. The commissioners began their day with a warm welcome from County Councillor Tanja Schweiger, who expressed her gratitude for their volunteering. After a hearty lunch at the "Ratskeller Weiden" restaurant, the commissioners received a historical city tour of Weiden, guided by knowledgeable locals.

The commissioners were then given free time to explore the picturesque old town, visit the factory outlets of Seltmann-Porzellan or Witt Weiden, or simply take a leisurely stroll. Employees of the department presented a small gift to the guests before setting off for their explorations.

With great dedication and passion, the senior and disability commissioners work tirelessly to enable and expand the participation opportunities of older and disabled persons in society. They voluntarily take care of matters related to senior policy, inclusion, and barrier-free access in their communities.

The cooperative event between the county council and the local senior commissioners was a success, and the commissioners returned safely to the county council office in Regensburg by 6 pm. Councilor Tanja Schweiger expressed her thanks once again for the commissioners' volunteering and looked forward to more such events in the future.
