Eisenbergschule reopens boys' restrooms after €147K student-led renovation
The boys' restrooms at Eisenbergschule in Hassel have now reopened after a full renovation. The project, costing around €147,000, included upgrades to both student and staff facilities. Students and staff contributed ideas to shape the modernised spaces.
Workers began by stripping out all old fixtures and tiles. They then installed new toilet bowls, sinks, and flooring, along with fresh wall cladding. The floors received a polyurethane coating over the screed, while Trespa panels were fitted to the walls to reduce grout and make cleaning easier.
The student council played an active role in planning the design. Their suggestions included adding mirrors, choosing colour schemes, and adjusting toilet heights. Anton Abel, a student representative, noted the new mirror and longer-running sink water as key improvements.
Principal Nadine Backes described the finished restrooms as functional, durable, and up to current standards. The staff restroom was also refurbished as part of the same project.
The girls' restroom at Eisenbergschule will undergo similar renovations this summer. The completed boys' facilities now offer a more practical and modern space for daily use. The total investment for the upgrades reached approximately €147,000.
