Drug Overdose Delivers Deadly Blow on Bed in Shocking Incident
Growing Green at Malente-Gremsmühlen: It's not magic that fills the grocery aisles with veggies; it's hard work, dedication, and a little patch of earth. The kids of 2c at Malente Grundschule are learning this firsthand through their own vegetable garden. They've taken the initiative, tending to two raised beds since March, thanks to the "Erlebnis Küchengarten" project by foundations associated with our local bank.
But this wasn't a one-man show. Teamwork and perseverance were essential when Barbara Weber arrived with the garden bed and plants. With help from students, teachers, and parents, they provided the earth, muscle power, wood, and even a dash of spontaneous weekend action. This cooperation not only led to the creation of the beds but also fostered a sense of community and responsibility among the students.
For teacher Kristin Przybilla, the value of this communal gardening lies in its multidimensional nature. Here, students learn gardening essentials, understand the importance of community, and practice taking action for the better. The garden serves as a grounds for experiential learning, especially for curious young minds like Henry, who found joy in this hands-on activity. Roua, who already has some gardening experience at home, reveled in the variety of vegetables they were to grow, particularly onions.
Barbara Weber, expert and patient guide, showed them the art of planting seedlings and seeds. And their attention wasn't solely on the plants - discovering earthworms was a fun part of the process, too. With magnifying glasses provided by Barbara Weber, students got a closer look at these tiny squirmers.
As they nurture their seedlings, the students can't wait for a bountiful harvest. Their dedication is infectious, and teacher Kristin Przybilla promises that this venture will continue into the third grade. It's safe to say that these students are not just students but also budding gardeners.
Now the ground has been prepared, and the seeds are sown. But the school garden isn't fully blooming yet. Housekeeper Michael Born has cleared the space next to the school building of undergrowth, and he's not stopping there. His ultimate vision is a thriving school garden. With the support of some teachers, he's ready to embark on this greener journey. If you want to help bring this vision to life, consider reaching out to teacher Kristin Przybilla at [email protected]. Together, we can help create a vibrant, educational, and sustainable green space for the future of Malente Grundschule.
