Ambling and feasting are encouraged once more at Dresden's Striezelmarkt. The 589th installment of the market was ceremoniously inaugurated on Wednesday through the traditional Stollen cutting event. Approximately 200 vendors cater to a variety of items, encompassing arts, crafts, and tasty treats.

Gear up for a sensational adventure at Dresden's 589th Striezelmarkt extravaganza! Kick-starting on the 2nd of December, this year's edition promises a smorgasbord of arts, crafts, and culinary delights.

The grand opening ceremony on the 7th marks the beginning of the festivities, complete with the traditional Stollen cutting. Over 200 stalls across the market bring you an array of delights, from traditional Dresden bakes to unique handcrafted items.

To add to the entertainment, an expanded stage welcomes choral groups, music ensembles, and more. Keep an eye out for the new main stage, designed to astound the crowd.

The action doesn't stop there! Over 1,900 talented artists, hailing from Dresden and Saxony, contribute to the 179 action-packed events lined up for this year's fair. Witness Dresden's brass bands, church choirs, and various performance groups showcasing their skills.

Don't miss the Stollen Festival on December 9th, an unforgettable event featuring a towering Stollen. Andreas Wippler, the chairman of the board of the Schutzverband Dresdner Stollen e.V., shares, "This year's Stollen Festival promises to be a culinary celebration like no other."

Topping it all off, the giant Stollen will be cut and sold, with a portion of the proceeds donated to the Albert-Schweitzer-Kinderdorf in Sachsen e.V. association.

Get ready for a series of captivating events, including the Advent Calendar Festival, Dresden Gingerbread Festival, Pyramid Festival, and Christmas Sounds Festival. Mark your calendars, as the Striezelmarkt will be open from the 10th to the 24th of December.

To ensure a smooth visit, the Wilsdruffer Street will be vehicle-free from late November until New Year's Eve. Public transportation is highly recommended, as the city center may experience increased traffic and restrictions. For those arriving by car, well-signposted, well-connected, and free P+R parking lots are available.
