From Flop to Treasure: Advent Tauschbörsen Kick Off - Dresden and Leipzig Host Festive Swap Meets to Cut Waste This December

This Advent season, Dresden and Leipzig are hosting swap meets to give unwanted items a new home. The events aim to reduce waste, save money, and bring people together. Residents can trade everything from Christmas decorations to household goods—up to seven items each.

The swaps begin on December 1, with Dresden’s event taking place in the Central Library at the Kulturpalast. Leipzig’s version opens the same day in the Technical Town Hall. Both locations welcome a wide range of items, including angels, stars, baubles, and candles—though books, food, electronics, and broken goods are not accepted.

The swap meets provide a practical way to reuse items that might otherwise go to waste. By trading up to seven items, participants help reduce consumption and support sustainability. Both events remain open throughout December, offering a festive and eco-friendly alternative to shopping.
