Dongfeng's New Wuhan Plant Produces World's Largest Die-Cast Auto Parts

Dongfeng Motor's new integrated die-casting plant in Wuhan has begun operations. The facility, spanning 47,000 square meters, houses the world's largest die-casting machine, capable of a 16,000-ton clamping force, equivalent to over 200,000 people.

The plant's construction started in November 2024 and was completed in August 2025. The first phase, involving an investment of around 500 million yuan, produces 200,000 lightweight automotive components annually. This phase includes an automated production line with a 135-second cycle time per part and a 95% qualification rate.

The production process involves injecting molten aluminum into the mold at 40 MPa and clamping it with 16,000 tons of force. This method, known as integrated die casting, replaces conventional car body structures with just three large cast parts, reducing components and weld points. A second phase is planned to add four more production lines, increasing annual capacity to 600,000 components. The plant also boasts a 96% material utilization rate and uses fully recyclable aluminum, demonstrating sustainable manufacturing principles.

Dongfeng Motor's integrated die-casting plant in Wuhan is now operational, producing lightweight automotive components using advanced, eco-friendly methods. With plans for expansion, the plant is set to significantly increase its annual capacity.
