DIY Guide for a Waterproof Table Cover Without Sewing

In the spirit of keeping outdoor play clean and enjoyable, one family has crafted a creative solution to protect their water table from the elements - a DIY waterproof cover made from PVC-style fabric, grommets, and mini bungee cords.

The water table, adorned with a tropical island theme, did not come with a cover, prompting the resourceful individual to take matters into their own hands. With a new water table in tow and a dislike for water, bugs, and dirt, the project was born.

To create this no-sew waterproof cover, the following materials were needed: a waterproof tarp or heavy-duty plastic sheeting, a grommet kit with grommet punch tool, mini bungee cords with hooks, scissors or utility knife, and a marker or tape measure.

The process began by measuring the water table and adding 4–6 inches to each side for adequate overhang coverage. The tarp or plastic was then cut to size. Next, the grommets were installed, with marks placed in the corners and evenly spaced along the edges. Using the grommet punch tool, holes were created at the marked spots, and the grommets were inserted and secured.

Once the grommets were in place, the cover was wrapped over the water table, and the mini bungee cords were hooked through the grommets and attached to the frame or legs of the water table. The tension was adjusted to ensure a snug, secure fit that wouldn’t flap in wind.

The family found that using a heavy-duty, waterproof tarp ensured durability and weather resistance. For extra protection, they folded the tarp edges under and used a heat gun (if using plastic) to fuse layers together for a sealed edge. They also opted for colorful mini bungee cords for easy identification and to make setup more fun for kids.

The DIY water table cover has proven to be a success, keeping the water table clean and dry between uses, protecting against dirt, leaves, rain, and UV rays, and offering a quick and simple assembly for the DIY enthusiast. The cover has even withstood some windy days, proving its worth in various weather conditions.

The individual enlisted the help of their husband for the grommet installation, following his tutorial. The husband demonstrated how to punch a hole in the fabric using a hole cutter and cutting block. With the husband's guidance, the remaining three grommets were attached on the water table cover.

As an added touch, a magnetic fishing game was created for the water table, offering hours of entertainment for the family and their children. The family is thrilled with their DIY water table cover, ensuring their outdoor play remains clean and enjoyable year-round.

This resourceful family, inspired by their new water table and a desire to keep it clean and dry, crafted a DIY home-and-garden project - a no-sew waterproof cover made from a waterproof tarp, grommets, mini bungee cords, and a grommet kit. To enhance their lifestyle and make the water table theme complete, they also created a magnetic fishing game for further outdoor entertainment.
