Discover Every Block of Summer Streets 2025 in NYC through This Engaging Map Interface

For the first time, Manhattan will be entirely car-free for a stretch of 400 blocks during the NYC Summer Streets 2025 program. This extensive event, taking place over five Saturdays across all five boroughs, promises a unique and memorable experience for residents and visitors alike.

Routes and Dates

The car-free celebration kicks off in Queens and Staten Island on July 26, 2025. The route in Queens covers Vernon Boulevard between 44th Drive and 30th Road, while Staten Island's Forest Avenue is closed between Elizabeth Street and Bard Avenue.

Manhattan will host the event on August 2, 9, and 16, with a route that spans 14.8 miles from the Brooklyn Bridge north through Manhattan. This year, a new extension along Broadway from West 110th Street to Dyckman Street in Inwood will be included. Notable streets like Centre Street, Federal Plaza, Lafayette Street, 4th Avenue, Park Avenue south of 125th Street, and Grand Concourse will be part of the route. For the first time, the full length of Manhattan from Brooklyn Bridge to Inwood will be car-free during the event. Park Avenue north of 125th Street will remain open to vehicles.

The final two Saturdays, on August 23, 2025, will be dedicated to Brooklyn and the Bronx.

Rest Stops and Entertainment

Throughout the route, rest stops provide free giveaways, music, fitness classes, dance workshops, chess, interactive art for kids, and more. Specific rest stops include areas like Astor Place, Harlem, and Inwood in Manhattan, among others borough-wide.

Events and Features

The event will feature free fitness classes and cultural performances, family-friendly activities including art workshops and interactive games, free Citi Bike day passes sponsored by Lyft, art installations, live music, and giveaways along the entire route.
