Detroit's Hudson's site reborn as luxury residences and mixed-use hub

A major new development is taking shape in downtown Detroit, transforming the historic J. L. Hudson Department Store site. The project, known as Hudson's Detroit, will span 1.5 million square feet and include luxury residences, a hotel, and mixed-use spaces. The first residential offering in the Midwest by Edition, The Residences at the Detroit Edition, is set to open next year. The Residences at the Detroit Edition will feature 96 high-end condos atop the Detroit Edition hotel. Designed by SHoP Architects with interiors by Yabu Pushelberg, the units include great rooms with 10-foot ceilings and expansive windows showcasing the city skyline. Pricing for the smallest units starts around $600,000.

Residents will enjoy 14,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor amenities, including a fitness suite, aquatic suite, children's playroom, co-working space, and a landscaped terrace. They will also have access to the hotel's restaurants, an additional pool, and spa services. The broader Hudson's development will include office space, retail stores, an event venue, and a cocktail bar operated by the Union Square Hospitality Group. Dan Gilbert, founder and chairman of Bedrock, is collaborating with Edition on the project.

The Residences at the Detroit Edition marks Edition's first residential venture in the Midwest. With luxury living spaces and extensive amenities, the development aims to redefine downtown Detroit's real estate landscape. The project is part of a larger effort to revitalise the historic Hudson's site into a modern mixed-use hub.
