Crafting a DIY Shadow Box Night Light
In this tutorial, we'll guide you through a captivating DIY night light project using the xTool M1 Laser. This project not only serves as an excellent decorative piece but also provides illumination for small areas. Let's dive in!
To begin, gather your materials: an xTool M1 Laser, 3mm MDF, white vinyl, string lights, Beacon 3 in 1 Adhesive (or alternatively, hot glue), craft tweezers, black acrylic paint, Isopropyl Alcohol, a craft knife, self-healing mat, light pad, makeup sponge, paper plate, paper roll, masking tape, and a ruler.
First, let's prepare the MDF piece. Cut it using the xTool laser to your desired size and paint it white for a clean finish. After the paint has dried, clean the glass piece with Isopropyl Alcohol.
Next, create your design. The xTool M1 Laser can be used to create designs for the night light project. Once you've designed your words, roll the white vinyl onto the glass and cut around the edges with a craft knife.
Now, it's time to adhere the letters to the glass. Place each letter carefully to avoid glue pooling around them. The Beacon 3 in 1 Adhesive works well, but hot glue can be used instead if preferred.
Once the glue is dry, push the letters out of the MDF using craft tweezers. The glass piece with the adhered letters is then placed back into the shadow frame with the words facing outward.
String lights are randomly pushed into the back of the frame, and the battery pack or power source is glued onto the back of the frame.
For a unique touch, a painting technique using a makeup sponge is suggested for small pieces. This adds a subtle, textured effect to your night light design.
This tutorial demonstrates a DIY night light project using an xTool laser. It was created by the xTool team, and a free, unique design SVG Laser File for the project is available. The project can be adapted to different size shadow box frames, with the front glass piece being removable.
So there you have it! A DIY night light project that's both decorative and functional. This project is perfect for lighting up small areas and adding a personal touch to your home decor. Happy crafting!
