Crafting a Christmas Ornament Wreath: Instructions Included

For those seeking a unique and personalized touch to their holiday decor, consider creating a monogram ornament wreath. Dororbek, a craft enthusiast, recently undertook this project, using shatterproof Christmas ornaments, foam board, and 3M picture hanging strip to craft a beautiful "D" monogram wreath. Here's a step-by-step guide to recreate this project:

## Materials Needed

- Shatterproof Christmas ornaments (choose a colour scheme and size) - Foam board (sturdy and at least 1/2 inch thick for stability) - 3M picture hanging strip - Utility knife or X-Acto knife - Hot glue gun and glue sticks - Ruler and pencil - Optional: Ribbon for hanging or embellishment

## Instructions

**1. Create Your Monogram Template** - Draw your monogram letter on the foam board using a pencil and ruler. Keep the letter bold and wide enough to accommodate several ornaments. - Cut out the letter using a utility knife or X-Acto knife, making sure the lines are clean and even.

**2. Arrange and Attach the Ornaments** - Arrange the ornaments on the monogram shape to preview your design. - Hot glue each ornament onto the foam board, starting from the center and working outward. Make sure the ornaments are touching to create a full look. Shatterproof ornaments often have a plastic loop or hole for hanging—glue the side flat against the board for best results.

**3. Let the Wreath Dry** - Allow the glue to cool and set before moving or hanging your wreath.

**4. Prepare for Hanging** - Cut the 3M picture hanging strip to fit along the back of your monogram wreath. - Attach the strip to the foam board, ensuring the adhesive is smoothed down and any backing is removed where needed.

**5. Hang Your Monogram Ornament Wreath** - Press the wreath onto your desired surface (door, wall, window), following the 3M strip instructions for secure, temporary attachment. - Option: Tie a ribbon loop to the top of your monogram for traditional hanging if you prefer not to use the picture hanging strip.

## Tips

- Double-check ornament placement before gluing to avoid gaps. - Use a variety of sizes for visual interest. - Add extra embellishments like holly, berries, or glitter for seasonal flair. - Follow 3M instructions for how long to press and wait before hanging for best results.

This project creates a festive, personalized wreath that’s easy to adapt for different holidays or occasions. Dororbek, who made this project as a part of the Fall Pinterest Challenge, used inspiration from Pinterest for the monogram ornament wreath. The wreath will be displayed on the front door right after Thanksgiving, and Dororbek has not specified when they typically put up Christmas (or Hanukah) decorations.

Dororbek made the wreath entirely from things they already had on hand, including the shatterproof Christmas ornaments, foam board, cardboard spray painted white, a cardboard box cutter, a hot glue gun, red sparkle styrofoam balls, a straight edge, a cutting board, and 3M picture hanging strip. Dororbek created their first Christmas wreath and first "D" project since changing their name on February 22, 2012.

Dororbek used one 3M picture hanging strip to hang the wreath on the front door. For the monogram, Dororbek hand-drew a "D" on foam board and used an X-Acto knife to cut it out. Dororbek hot-glued ornaments all over the big "D," and due to having only 2 big red balls, they spaced them accordingly. Dororbek hot-glued the small red glitter balls in the white space between the big ornaments. After checking out a picture of the wreath, Dororbek declared that the wreath needed more red balls.

While Dororbek did not specify if they are obsessed with monograms, they have made a monogram ornament wreath. It is important to note that Dororbek has not specified if they have started Christmas crafting or done any awesome Pinterest projects recently, and Dororbek has gotten injured in the making of this wreath. An inspiration for the "H" ornament wreath was found on Flickr.

This home-and-garden project creates a unique monogram ornament wreath for holiday decor, perfect for showcasing personalized style. To expand on the lifestyle aspect, one could use different color schemes, sizes, and embellishments to customize the wreath according to one's preferences. Alternatively, this wreath, featuring a "D" monogram, could also be adapted to create wreaths with other initials, adding a personal touch to various home-and-garden settings.
