Creating a Cozy and Inviting Fall Tablescape
The author, who is a parent to three young children, has a knack for transforming their dining room into a warm and welcoming space during the autumn season. Twice a year, they set the table for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but their favourite table setting is undoubtedly their simple farmhouse fall tablescape.
The foundation of this tablescape lies in a burlap table runner, which provides a rustic base. Rich fall hues are introduced through plaid placemats and rust-colored cloth napkins. Creamy white stoneware dishes, gold-toned flatware, and vintage etched glass goblets add charm and elegance, while maintaining a casual and inviting atmosphere.
In the centre of the table, a farmhouse tray is used to layer mini pumpkins, chunky candles, and fall florals, creating a simple yet captivating centrepiece. Natural, cozy textures like wicker and wood are incorporated to enhance the rustic feel. The arrangements are kept casual and layered, rather than formal, to create an inviting look.
The author finds excitement in using real plates, even if they only do so bi-yearly. Recently, they found gourd and pumpkin plates that perfectly complement the fall tablescape. The leaves from the front yard are added to the napkins, and wheat is used for an added touch of autumn.
For a personal touch, the author created a DIY baby onesie using an SVG file and a Cricut machine. The SVG was labeled "Holy Cow I'm Cute", reflecting the author's playful and creative spirit.

It is a simple, quick, and easy style that fits well with their lifestyle. The napkins are folded into rectangles, and the overall effect is one of relaxed, layered textures and warm autumn colors like rust, brown, and cream.
