Community gathers for Kids' Day festivities at Martin Luther Square
On Sunday, June 1, 2025, a festive celebration for children will take place on Martin Luther Square in Dresden's Neustadt district, between 2 to 5 pm. The event, titled the Children's Festival, will be organized by Ostra e.V., a local non-profit group.
The music-themed event promises an enjoyable afternoon with live performances by the band Okay Tilda, accompanied by additional acts on a smaller stage. The Greek community's children's choir will serenade the attendees, while "Theater Der Laden" ensemble will captivate the audience with fairy tales readings. The "Kichererbsen" children's center from Angelikastraße will make appearances as well.
A variety of interactive activities will ensure the children's entertainment, including face painting, outdoor games, and craft stations. A participation bike supervised by the Dresden Children and Youth Office will be on hand. Cotton candy will be available for a sweet treat, and coffee and homemade cakes will be provided by the church community.
The festival is an ode to International Children's Day and welcomes families and local residents to join in the celebration.
While Dresden, notably known for its summer festivals, does not have records of prior Children's Festivals specifically at Martin Luther Square, the square remains a hub for city life and various community events.
Although the details of the Children's Festival remain forthcoming, visitors can expect a family-friendly celebration on June 1st, drawing inspiration from Dresden's vibrant festival scene [5].
