Colour Drenching Transforms European Homes with Bold Monochrome Designs

A bold interior design trend called Colour Drenching is transforming homes across Europe. Instead of mixing multiple shades, designers now immerse entire rooms—or even whole apartments—in a single color. The approach extends beyond walls to include ceilings, furniture, and even small fixtures like curtain rods and radiators.

In Milan, paediatrician Virginia Siragus applied the trend to her compact apartment. She chose deep green as the dominant shade, creating a warm and inviting space. To prevent the dark tone from feeling flat, architect Daniele Daminelli introduced a clever trick: alternating matte, glossy, and high-gloss finishes. This play of textures added brightness and depth to the green color scheme.

Colour Drenching offers a simple yet striking way to unify a space. By using a single color across all surfaces, designers create cohesive, immersive interiors. The technique’s versatility means it can suit both minimalist and dramatic styles, depending on the chosen color and finish.
