Club Culture in Wartime: Berlin & Kyiv Unite

An upcoming event at Kantine, Berlin, will explore the role of club culture during wartime and exile. The discussion, titled 'Club Culture as a Social and Political Space', will take place on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 7:00 PM. Admission is free, but reservations are required.

The event will feature a panel of artists and cultural workers from both Kyiv and Berlin. Among them are Andrii Yankovskyi, Kai Sachse, Dr. Olena Lykhovodova, and Moritz Martin. They will discuss how club culture serves as a social and political space during conflict and how exile shapes this culture.

Following the panel, a DJ set by Karine, a former resident and booker at Kyiv's legendary Closer club, will take place. Despite the devastation caused by Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, underground cultural institutions and clubs have resumed operations within Ukraine and in exile, demonstrating resilience and a commitment to preserving cultural spaces.

The event at Kantine is a testament to the enduring power of club culture and its role in fostering solidarity between Kyiv and Berlin. It is open to all, with no translation provided, and will be held bilingually in English and German.
