In the heart of Boockerhof, a new initiative aimed at fostering a culture of learning and community engagement has taken root. The Spar- und Bauverein Solingen (SBV) has partnered with a dedicated group of individuals to establish a "book cell", a small, local library where residents and students can borrow and exchange books freely.

The idea for the "book cell" was initially conceived by Edeltraut Kruger, who also played a pivotal role in setting up the first "book cabinet" in Weegerhof, using an outdated telephone booth from Telekom. Kruger's enthusiasm was contagious, inspiring others to join the cause. The group, which includes Angelika Nowotka, Marie Therese Bertram, Ruth Hansen, Susanne Oehler, and Susanne Kappner, has been instrumental in bringing the Boockerhof "book cell" to life.

The SBV, which has also been involved in setting up the "book cabinet" in Weegerhof, has provided invaluable support in constructing the "book cell". The structure, designed to be weatherproof and stable, was inaugurated in mid-November. Board member Roland Bak expressed his delight at the commitment from the members, while district mayor Paul Westeppe, who was present at the inauguration, advocated for the installation of the "book cell".

The "book cell" aims to cater to all age groups, including children from nearby kindergarten and primary school. The group is committed to ensuring that books for each age group are available and that the content remains readable. This initiative not only encourages reading but also supports educational activities in nearby schools, offering a convenient resource for families and individuals who may not have easy access to larger libraries.

The new "book cell" is conveniently located within the Boockerhof settlement, motivating neighbors to browse its shelves. The group's ultimate goal is to promote knowledge sharing and strengthen the local community through accessible literature. The association members, including Kruger and Bak, have thanked the cooperative for their support in implementing the idea.

This community-driven project is a testament to the power of collaboration and the importance of fostering a love for reading. It serves as a beacon of hope for a community that values education and learning, and it's a reminder that everyone has a role to play in shaping the future of our communities.

The Spar- und Bauverein Solingen (SBV) is expanding its home-and-garden endeavors, extending their support to the establishment of a "book cell" in Boockerhof, further enriching the lifestyle of its residents. This small local library encourages knowledge sharing and strengthens the community by offering an accessible resource for books catering to all age groups, including children from nearby schools.
