City Museum Unveils Groundbreaking Audio Guide for Blind Visitors

From November 20, the City Museum will introduce a new audio guide, designed with audacity for blind and visually impaired visitors. The system allows independent exploration through tactile features and digital descriptions. Museum staff and local organizations worked together to create this inclusive experience.

The project was led by museum educator Lisa Sommer alongside Wiesbaden’s Department of Culture. Students also contributed, with additional support from ProRetina and the Wiesbaden Media Center. Funding came from state resources and the Schuld Foundation.

The audio guide launches on November 20, offering blind and visually impaired visitors an audible login to explore the museum independently. Tactile elements, audio descriptions, and replicas ensure a richer, more immersive experience. This initiative reflects a broader push for accessibility in cultural spaces.
