Christmas earnings in Solingen will be funds given to the AWO-Kita Niederstraße organization.
In the heart of Solingen, the municipal utilities have once again brought festive cheer to the community by organizing a Christmas card coloring contest for local kindergartens and daycare centers. This tradition, while not universal, is a known part of local holiday programming, fostering creativity in children and community engagement for participating institutions.
This year's contest, held at the municipal utilities' internal Christmas party, attracted 42 entries, each depicting a unique and delightful Christmas motif. Joelle Daun, project manager of the municipal utilities, expressed her awe at the boundless creativity of the children.
After much deliberation, the winning motif was chosen. Painted by Yuna (5), Lotte (6), Hilda (5), Luca (5), and Sophia (3) from the AWO kindergarten, the design will grace the Solingen municipal utilities' 2024 Christmas card. As a token of appreciation, the kindergarten of the winning picture received the entire proceeds from the Christmas tombola of the municipal utilities.
Leif Reitis, managing director of the Solingen municipal utilities, expressed that the kindergartens and daycare centers whose motif was not selected also received a nice gift. Anke John, head of the AWO kindergarten, announces that this year's donation will be used to set up an outdoor water slide in the kindergarten area.
The proceeds from the Christmas tombola were given to the kindergarten associated with the winning picture. This donation will undoubtedly bring joy and excitement to the young artists and their peers.
Participating in such contests offers numerous benefits to the institutions. Recognition in community events or municipal publications, prizes or awards for children, engagement opportunities that foster community connection and promote local culture, and potential involvement in broader holiday or seasonal celebrations organized by municipal entities or utilities are all typical outcomes.
Though there is no comprehensive industry or national data specifically quantifying how widespread these contests are, local examples like Solingen's suggest they are a valued part of holiday programming. These contests serve as community-building activities that both utilities and educational institutions find mutually beneficial.
As the holiday season approaches, the Solingen municipal utilities continue to spread joy and foster community spirit through their unique and heartwarming traditions. The 2024 Christmas card, with its vibrant and imaginative design, is a testament to the creativity and talent of Solingen's young artists.
The AWO kindergarten has announced plans to use the donation from the Christmas tombola, given for their winning design in the Solingen municipal utilities' Christmas card contest, to set up an outdoor water slide in the kindergarten area. This activity, part of the outdoor-living aspect of their home-and-garden environment, promises to bring excitement to the young artists and their peers during the upcoming year.
The Solingen municipal utilities' Christmas card contest not only fosters creativity in children but also encourages community engagement and promotes local culture. This type of home-and-garden oriented outdoor-living activity is one of the benefits that participating institutions find in such contests, making them a valued part of holiday programming.
