Children in need donated a generous €1,000 towards emergency care services in Solingen.
The Ohligser Jongens Flohligsmarkt, a beloved flea market event in the district of Ohligs, Solingen, continues to combine sustainability, charity, and community engagement. This unique market, which started in March 2024 at the hall on West Street, was born out of a spontaneous idea and has since become an established part of the Ohligser community.
Luisa Skrabic-Sonnenberg and Susann Meister-Skrabic, members of the Ohligser Jongens, were the driving forces behind the Flohligsmarkt's inception. The first event saw a significant turnout, with more registrations than available spots, showcasing the community's strong interest in the project.
Proceeds from the stall fees of the first Flohligsmarkt were donated to the Solingen women's shelter, while unsold clothing was donated to the clothing chamber. The second edition, held on September 7, 2024, saw a collection of 1,000 euros, with 500 euros coming from stall fees. The emergency chaplaincy was the recipient of these proceeds.
The Ohligser Jongens association added an additional 500 euros to the total collection, making a grand total of 1,500 euros donated from the Flohligsmarkt events so far.
The Flohligsmarkt is more than just a flea market; it's a sustainable flea market that encourages the reuse and recycling of goods. This approach aligns with the market's charitable mission, promoting a circular economy while supporting local causes.
The next Flohligsmarkt is planned for spring 2025. For the latest updates and ticket information, checking regional event calendars, such as Solingen-Live.de, would be the most helpful.
