Hagen Open-Air Museum Hosts Annual Autumn Festival
The Hagen Open-Air Museum of the Westphalian-Lippe Regional Association (LWL) will celebrate its annual autumn festival on the first weekend of October, specifically on the 30th of September and the 1st of October.
The festivities will include a farmers' market featuring regional produce such as honey, liqueurs, sausage, cheese specialties, jams, nuts, potatoes, vegetables, and fresh fruit. The market will be set up in front of the Gelbgießerei. Meanwhile, the crafts market on the upper museum square will offer ideas for autumn home decor with goods like indigo printing, soap art, glass, silver, and textile jewelry, felting and wool products, ceramics, flower arrangements, and woven baskets. Visitors can also observe various poultry breeds, some rare, close-up from local breeders.
Engaging activities for all ages, such as basket weaving, jewelry making, and blacksmithing demonstrations, will be available throughout the weekend. Pony rides and pumpkin carving on Sunday along with additional children's workshops will be added attractions. The "Potato Master" competition and "Autumn Child" guessing game are also part of the fun, inviting both adults and children to participate in various potato-related challenges.
Visitors can watch brewmasters at work in the brewery, while Habbel’s company introduces wines from Veneto for the first time at the autumn festival. On Sunday from 2 to 4 pm, the band "Pilgerfathers" from the LWL residential community in Hemer will entertain with music in Hagen's most beautiful beer garden on the upper square in front of the brewery.
Various food and drink stalls and the Museumsterrassen restaurant will ensure that festival goers are well-fed and hydrated, offering grilled and autumn specialties like pumpkin cream soup, onion cake, and new wine.
