Carolin Kebekus: Postpartum Period is a Harsh Reality - Carolin Kebekus opens up about the overwhelming reality of postpartum life

Carolin Kebekus, a 45-year-old comedian, has shared her experiences with the postpartum period. Despite being well-prepared for childbirth, she found the intensity of the postpartum phase overwhelming.

Kebekus, renowned for her comedy, struggled with the sudden responsibility of caring for a newborn. She recounted sleeping for eight hours straight on her first night at home, only to panic upon waking, concerned about her baby's well-being.

Her midwife reassured her that the baby was fine and that she could sleep longer than the every-two-hour intervals she had experienced in the hospital. Kebekus found the hormonal shift challenging, admitting that she was unprepared for the intensity of the postpartum period despite her preparation for childbirth.

Carolin Kebekus's experiences emphasize the necessity of postpartum support. Her statement, published by the German non-profit 'Bundesstiftung Frühe Hilfen', aims to raise awareness about the challenges new parents face after childbirth.
