Camping Boom - Black Forest and Lake Constance Likely to Have Record Year - Camping in Baden-Württemberg Booms as Guests Arrive Earlier and Stay Later
Camping in Baden-Württemberg is flourishing, with a record-breaking year anticipated as guests arrive earlier and stay later into the year. Better weather in 2025 has contributed to this surge in popularity.
The camping industry in the region is booming, with a significant increase in overnight stays and revenue, particularly during the summer months of June to August. Around 80 percent of campers come from within Germany, with many competing for spots in popular regions like the Black Forest and Lake Constance.
The trend towards resort formation is evident, with campers seeking on-site activities and service facilities. This is reflected in the popularity of 5-star camping sites such as the 'Ferienparadies Schwarzwälder Hof' in the Black Forest, Alfsee Ferien- und Erlebnispark in Lower Saxony, and LuxOase Campingplatz near Dresden. These sites offer extensive wellness offerings, family activities, and high-quality pitches.
The camping association in Baden-Württemberg, which has 387 registered businesses and 138 members, is aiming to attract more tourists and increase turnover by moving away from long-term camping.
With 13 five-star and 31 four-star camping places, Baden-Württemberg remains a top camping destination. If the trend continues into fall and winter, 2025 could be a record year for the camping industry in the region.
