Burien's free community walk unites neighbors on scenic March stroll

A free community walk will take place in Burien on Sunday, March 1, 2026, starting at 2:00 PM. Organised by WABI Burien, the main event invites residents to enjoy exercise, conversation, and a relaxed stroll through local streets and pathways.

The walk begins at the New Start Community Garden, often called the 'Shark Garden', at 614 SW 120th St. Participants can explore a 2.5-mile route that mixes paved roads with lesser-known pathways. The event has run monthly since August 2011, offering a chance for neighbours to connect while staying active.

After finishing the walk, attendees are welcome to visit the garden's plots and admire the art installations along the fence. The event is open to everyone, including dogs, and people can join for the full route or just part of it at their own pace.

WABI Burien encourages the walk as a way to build community ties and promote a healthy lifestyle. No registration is required, and all ages are invited to take part.

The March 1 walk continues a long-standing tradition of bringing Burien residents together. By combining movement with social interaction, the main event supports both physical activity and local connections. The garden and its artwork provide a scenic finish to the afternoon.
