Braunschweig Youth Book Week Returns for 37th Year, Inspiring 10,000 Students

The Braunschweig Youth Book Week is an annual event that brings together young readers and prominent authors and illustrators in children's and youth literature. Organised by the Braunschweig Youth Book Week e.V., it aims to reduce barriers and promote active reading, with around 200 events reaching approximately 10,000 students each year.

The week-long event facilitates encounters between young readers and important figures in the literary scene. Around 17 authors participate each year, with readings taking place in schools and cultural institutions. The Braunschweig Youth Book Week is one of the most traditional events of its kind in Germany, having invited numerous renowned authors and illustrators since its inception in 1958. Some prominent names that have participated in recent years include Jana Scheerer, Martin Baltscheit, and Frank Maria Reifenberg. The event's official website and yearly programmes provide detailed and up-to-date guest lists.

The Braunschweig Youth Book Week, founded in 1985, has been a significant part of the literary landscape for over three decades. It continues to inspire young readers and foster a love for books, with its comprehensive programme and esteemed guests.
