Borken District’s Glowworm Day lights up child safety on December 12

Borken District will host its first Glowworm Day on Friday, December 12, 2025. The campaign encourages children and adults to dress in bright, reflective clothing for better visibility on their way to daycare. Organized by Borken Police, the event aims to make road traffic safer through creative and playful approaches.

The initiative invites all childcare centers in the district to take part. Participants are asked to decorate themselves as ‘glowworms’ using reflectors, high-visibility vests, fairy lights, neon colors, or flashing accessories. The goal is to boost awareness of traffic safety while making the journey to daycare more visible and fun.

The campaign’s focus on visibility and creativity aims to reduce risks for young pedestrians. By involving families and childcare providers, organizers expect wider participation across Borken District. The event’s success could lead to similar safety initiatives in the future.
