"Bloom 2025 Emphasizes Sustainable Practices and a Closed-Loop Economy as Key Focuses"

In the heart of Dublin's Phoenix Park, the 19th annual Bord Bia Bloom event unfolds over five days, showcasing sustainability and the circular economy as its main themes.

Expected to attract over 100,000 visitors across its duration, Bord Bia Bloom stands as the country's largest gardening festival. The event features 21 show gardens, which emphasize sustainability, climate change, and environmental concerns.

11 'Postcard Gardens' have been created by community groups from across the country, while 16 environmental and conservationist groups are present in the conservation area. Furthermore, 17 Irish plant nurseries and floral artists exhibit their work in this eco-friendly extravaganza.

A diverse selection of over 100 food and drink companies feature at the event, alongside live talks, demonstrations, and musical performances.

Striving to set an example for sustainable events, Bord Bia Bloom aims to lead as the country's most sustainably operated large-scale event. Last year, it successfully redeemed 21,000 liters of water for refilling reusable bottles, collected and donated 2 tonnes of used coffee grounds for composting, and had over 20,000 visitors travel using public transport.

President Michael D Higgins, a patron of Bloom, will officially open the festival with an address later today. The event runs from 9am to 6pm daily until Monday, 2 June.

Bord Bia's Bloom 2025 incorporates several sustainable practices, utilizing measures such as:

  1. Sustainable garden design, emphasizing the use of sustainable materials.
  2. A Reimagined Waste Garden that creatively repurposes waste materials.
  3. An organic show garden promoting Irish organic agriculture and sustainable farming practices.
  4. Support for the National Organic Strategy 2024-2030, aiming to increase organically produced goods.

Bloom 2025 underscores a strong commitment to sustainability and the circular economy through design, educational initiatives, and collaborations with various stakeholders.

At Bord Bia Bloom 2025, the commitment to sustainability and environmental science is evident, as seen in the sustainable garden design and the Reimagined Waste Garden that repurposes waste materials. This year, the event also features an organic show garden promoting Irish organic agriculture and sustainable farming practices, aligning with the National Organic Strategy 2024-2030. Additionally, lifestyle choices are encouraged with home-and-garden displays that prioritize climate-change awareness, as seen in the 21 show gardens and 11 Postcard Gardens emphasizing sustainability and environmental concerns.
