Biebrich's Children's Carnival Parade Delights Families Despite Rainy Skies
The Children's Carnival Parade in Biebrich went ahead on Sunday, keeping a beloved local tradition alive. Despite light rain, families lined the streets as five colourful entries—including a float and a tractor—made their way through the town. The event, organised by the Gibber Kerb Society, has drawn generations of participants over the years.
The parade kicked off at 3:11 p.m., winding through Weihergasse and into Gaugasse before looping back. Instead of the usual three rounds, organisers shortened it to two this year to reduce strain on local authorities. The change didn't dampen spirits, though—children cheered as sweets, gummy bears, and chocolate rained down from the floats.
Along the route, the Köstner bakery handed out Kreppel, the traditional carnival pastries, to eager spectators. Many kids called for a second lap after the first, their excitement undimmed by the drizzle. Once the parade finished, the Gibber Kerb Society kept the celebrations going with an after-party offering food and drinks.
The event wrapped up with families enjoying treats and music at the society's gathering. Though scaled back slightly, the parade remained a highlight of Biebrich's carnival season. Organisers and attendees alike looked forward to continuing the tradition in years to come.
