Berlin's Volkspark Wuhlheide to Redesign 15 Entrances by 2026

Volkspark Wuhlheide, one of Berlin's largest inner-city parks, will see a major redesign of its entrances in 2026. The project will standardise 15 key access points along An der Wuhlheide street and Treskowallee, making them more visible and welcoming for visitors. Funding of €5.2 million has been secured from federal and state grants to support the improvements.

The redesign focuses on creating a consistent look for the park's entrances. Landmark stele structures and uniform amenities will be introduced to align with the park's branding. This aims to improve visitor orientation and make the entrances instantly recognisable.

Before construction begins, tree-felling work will start in February 2026. Fifteen severely damaged trees will be removed, along with overgrown planting areas. To balance this, 41 new trees will be planted, and 2,800 square metres of green space will be added, featuring native shrubs and perennials.

The 15 entrances being upgraded are all located along An der Wuhlheide and Treskowallee. None of them are directly near major cultural or leisure sites like FEZ Berlin, Waldbühne, or Heckentheater. The project is part of the Joint Task for the Improvement of Regional Economic Structures programme, ensuring long-term benefits for the park and its visitors.

The redesign will transform the park's entrances with clearer signage, better amenities, and enhanced greenery. Work begins in early 2026, with new plantings and structures set to improve access and aesthetics. The €5.2 million investment will help maintain Wuhlheide's status as a key green space in Berlin.
