Berlin’s Samurai Museum Brings Japan’s Warrior Legacy to Life

Berlin’s Samurai Museum, located at Auguststraße 68, showcases centuries of Japanese warrior culture. The venue displays armour, swords, and art from the 8th to 19th centuries, with interactive features and multimedia installations bringing the samurai era to life. The museum’s collection includes the Janssen Collection, highlighting the craftsmanship of samurai armour and weaponry, and rare jewellery pieces contributed by Professor Alexander P. Härtel. Visitors can explore the exhibits guided by Kitsune, a virtual fox character, with hands-on activities like catching a yokai or watching traditional nō and taiko performances. The museum also offers demonstrations of Japanese swordsmithing. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., tickets start at €10 for adults.
