Berlin's New Affordable Youth Residence Opens in Mitte by 2026
A new youth residence in Berlin-Mitte is taking shape and will open its doors in June 2026. Operated by Kolpingwerk Deutschland, the building will offer affordable housing for young people aged 16 to 27 in a central location between Mitte and Kreuzberg.
The Kolping Youth Residence is rising at the corner of Heinrich-Heine-Straße and Dresdner Straße. Its position between the Heinrich-Heine-Straße and Moritzplatz U-Bahn stations (U8 line) ensures easy access to public transport.
The building will feature barrier-free rooms on every floor. The first floor, in particular, is designed to meet the needs of wheelchair users. Sustainability is also a key focus, with a hybrid timber construction and eco-friendly elements incorporated into the design.
This will be the third youth residence run by Kolpingwerk Deutschland in Berlin. The organisation already manages two similar facilities in the city, providing housing solutions for young adults.
The new residence aims to address the demand for affordable youth housing in the capital. With its accessible design and sustainable construction, it will offer practical living spaces for 16- to 27-year-olds. The official opening is set for mid-2026.
