Everything went smoothly - Christmas tree adorns Memorial Church - Berlin’s Memorial Church Christmas tree stands tall after smooth setup

Berlin's iconic Memorial Church is ready for the festive season as its Christmas tree has been successfully installed. The 20-meter-tall spruce from Altglienicke will adorn the Breitscheidplatz market, which opens on November 24. This year's tree setup was smooth, unlike some previous years.

The tree, a 35-year-old spruce, was carefully transported from Altglienicke. In the past, trees for the market have faced challenges. In 2022, a tree was too tall to pass through a tunnel during transport. In 2000, a scrawny spruce from Bavaria was so small it ended up as elephant feed at the zoo. Last year, the truck carrying the tree broke down en route. This year, however, two illegally parked cars were the only minor hindrance.

In contrast to previous years, the tree from Röhrenhof near Bad Berneck, chosen for Bayreuth's market, was an ideal fit. The garden owner's name remains unknown. The tree's height and weight posed no issues during transport, unlike some trees in earlier years that were too long or heavy, or snapped during transit.

The Christmas tree at Memorial Church is now in place, ready to be decorated before the market's opening on November 24. Despite past mishaps, this year's setup was successful, ensuring a smooth start to the festive season at Breitscheidplatz.
