Berlin’s public swimming pools will close for several days over the Christmas and New Year period. The shutdown aims to allow staff at Berliner Bäder-Betriebe time off to celebrate with their families. Not all dates are confirmed for every pool, but key closures have been announced.

From 24 to 26 December 2023, all public pools in Berlin will remain shut. A second closure follows on 31 December 2023, with no access on New Year’s Eve. Meanwhile, school and club swimming sessions will pause earlier, from 22 December 2023 to 2 January 2024.

Some facilities plan to reopen on 1 January 2024, including Stadtbad Neukölln, Stadtbad Tiergarten, Kombibad Seestraße, and Schwimmhalle Fischerinsel. Outside Berlin, details remain unclear: one source mentions a temporary pause at a pool in Kitzbühel on 17 December 2023, from 16:00 to 19:00, but no full list of affected dates exists for other regions.

The closures will impact regular swimmers and training schedules until early January. Pools reopening on New Year’s Day will restore partial access, though staff availability may vary. Officials have yet to confirm whether additional pauses will apply beyond the announced dates.
