Berlin Pied-à-Terre: Freytag Transforms 130m² Apartment into Vibrant Haven
Interior architect Fabian Freytag has transformed a 130 square meter four-room apartment in a classic Charlottenburg old building into a vibrant pied-à-terre for an entrepreneur. The apartment, located in Berlin-Charlottenburg, stands out with its bold colors, unique design, and eclectic mix of styles.
Freytag aimed to create a space that differed significantly from the entrepreneur's main residence, a white cube. He employed colors from the over 100-year-old Murjahn palette for the walls, adding a half-height wall cladding in taupe and exposing some of the plasterwork. The centerpiece of the living spaces is an expansive coffee table with an integrated bottle cooler.
Freytag designed the apartments with entertaining in mind. Practicality and storage space took a backseat to the bold design. The living room flows into a dining room, featuring a lapis lazuli dining table. A guest room with its own bathroom ensures comfort for visitors. The bedroom is spacious, and the kitchen boasts a bright blue table. The guest bed frame is a striking mandarin orange.
Freytag's eclectic use of bold colors, unusual forms, and shiny materials has created a unique pied-à-terre in Berlin-Charlottenburg. The apartments, with their expansive living spaces and vibrant design, are a testament to Freytag's innovative approach to interior architecture.
