Bergisch Gladbach to Fell Unsafe Robinia Tree on October 7, 2025

Bergisch Gladbach is set to remove a tree from a prominent corner on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. The tree, located at the intersection of Dellbrücker Straße and Eschenbroicher Straße, has been deemed unsafe due to severe fungal damage.

The tree's health has been deteriorating over time. Fungal infestation has led to extensive deadwood development, necessitating repeated maintenance efforts. In 2022, intensive care was provided, but the tree's condition has continued to decline. Large portions of the bark have died and peeled off, compromising the tree's stability. Experts have concluded that felling the tree is now unavoidable.

On Tuesday, the city will fell the tree to ensure public safety. The affected area will be temporarily closed during the operation. The city will plant a new tree in its place as part of its ongoing urban greening initiative.
