Bergisch Gladbach seeks a vocal advocate for the consultative council on inclusivity
Speak Up for Inclusivity in Bergisch Gladbach:
Hear me loud and clear, it's time we stand together for a more inclusive Bergisch Gladbach! Now's the chance to make a difference – the Inclusion Advisory Board of the city is up for grabs, and organizations dedicated to inclusion are now invited to put forth their candidates.
By 2025, the Inclusion Advisory Board will be shaping the city’s direction for the next five years, and they're seeking promising candidates to champion an inclusive city. This board is the voice of the differently-abled residents and a vital force pushing for a city that values and accommodates all its citizens.
So, what's the board's game plan? The board voices the concerns of people with disabilities on key issues such as barrier-free access, participation, and accessibility. They interact directly with politics and administration, advocate for their members' needs, and help ensure their perspectives are part of the city’s decisions. From quiet hours in supermarkets to tactile pavements, inclusive buildings, and everyday life - here, action speaks louder than words.
Who qualifies to join - and how? Self-help organizations for people with disabilities, facilities for the disabled, and other associations that champion inclusivity are encouraged to nominate dedicated individuals from within their ranks for membership or as personal deputies. As long as your primary residence is in Bergisch Gladbach, you're eligible to participate. Employees of facilities-for-disabled carriers are the exception.
Heads up: You can't run for candidacy directly; organizations can only propose one person as a regular, voting member and an additional personal deputy.
9, 11, or 13 members plus one personal deputy can be elected. The nominees' list will be submitted to the city council for voting, scheduled in October 2025.
Why jump on board?
- Direct Influence: Your voice will be heard by the very decision-makers shaping Bergisch Gladbach.
- Create a Vibrant City: Together, we'll build a Bergisch Gladbach that is not just diverse but truly livable.
The Inclusion Advisory Board convenes at least four times a year in the council chamber of the Technical Town Hall in Bensberg. Membership involves volunteering, and you'll receive a sitting fee. The term lasts a significant five years.

Let's work together to make Bergisch Gladbach an inclusive city for all! 💪💛✨
The home-and-garden of an inclusive Bergisch Gladbach should encompass not just buildings and streets, but also a lifestyle that values and accommodates all its citizens. Organizations dedicated to home-and-garden inclusivity are invited to nominate individuals who champion such a lifestyle for the Inclusion Advisory Board, enabling them to contribute to shaping the city's direction.
