Benson Hotel & Faculty Club redefines luxury with Colorado's rugged charm
The Benson Hotel & Faculty Club has opened its doors on Colorado's Anschutz Medical Campus. Designed by LA-based studio Avenue Interior Design, the boutique hotel blends Western heritage with modern luxury. Despite pandemic challenges, the project was completed to a high standard.
Developer Aimco brought in Avenue Interior Design to shape the hotel's creative vision. The studio, led by Co-Founder and Co-Creative Director Andrea DeRosa, crafted interiors that reflect Colorado's landscape and culture. This marks the firm's first known project in the state and in the American West style.
The hotel's decor draws inspiration from the region's natural beauty. Marble tiles feature fine veining reminiscent of Colorado Yule marble, while the colour palette mirrors the state's rugged terrain. Beyond aesthetics, the space houses the second-largest collection of Western art in Colorado, adding cultural depth to the design. Guests will find a mix of social and private spaces. The property includes a social club, a signature restaurant, and a lobby bar, alongside meeting rooms, a ballroom, and a private club lounge. Each area carries a distinct design scheme, ensuring variety throughout the stay. Construction faced delays due to shipment issues during the pandemic. Close collaboration between Aimco, architect Tryba, and contractor Hyder Construction kept the project on track. The result is a hotel that honours the American West while serving the University of Colorado's medical community.
The Benson Hotel & Faculty Club now offers a hospitality experience rooted in Colorado's history and landscape. Its blend of art, regional design, and modern amenities sets it apart on the Anschutz Medical Campus. The project also stands as a milestone for Avenue Interior Design in Western-inspired interiors.
