Bavaria Launches Free 2026 City Cycling Campaign for Towns and Schools

Bavarian towns and cities can now join the 2026 CITY CYCLING campaign at no cost or for a reduced fee. Registration opens on March 11 at 10:00 AM, with funding provided by the Bavarian State Ministry of Housing, Construction, and Transport. The event encourages residents to cycle as much as possible during April and beyond.

The campaign will run throughout 2026, with participants tracking kilometres cycled for their municipality or school. Schools across Bavaria can also take part in School Cycling Bavaria, a separate competition for students, parents, and teachers at all secondary schools.

After the cycling season ends, the most active riders will receive recognition at both national and Bavarian closing ceremonies. Organisers have set up a dedicated website for details, available at www.city-cycling.org.

The initiative aims to boost cycling across Bavaria while offering financial support to participating municipalities. Residents and schools will compete to log the highest distances, with official honours awarded to top performers. Full information and registration details are available online.
