Hyundai, Volvo, and Alfa Romeo are among the car manufacturers offering official EV grant discounts in the UK, providing immediate financial support for those looking to make the switch to electric vehicles.

Hyundai UK is offering the Hyundai Electric Grant, which provides £1,500 off the KONA Electric, IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6, and IONIQ 9, and a staggering £3,750 off the cheapest model in the range, the INSTER [2].

Similarly, Volvo is offering a £1,500 saving on its EX30 models, with the entry level price starting at £31,560 after the Volvo EV Grant [1]. Alfa Romeo is also offering a £1,500 discount across all Junior Elettrica models, with the cheapest starting at £32,405 [1].

Skywell UK has joined the fray by launching its own EV incentive, in response to government grant delays [2]. Other manufacturers, such as MG and Ora, have also offered self-funded EV grants to encourage buyers ahead of the official scheme being finalised [1].

The UK government's Electric Car Grant sets criteria for eligibility and discount levels, with a cap of £37,000 and two subsidy bands: £3,750 for the greenest vehicles (Band 1) and £1,500 for slightly less eco-friendly vehicles (Band 2) [1][4]. However, eligibility is restricted to manufacturers who meet strict environmental standards [1].

Ashley Andrew, President of Hyundai and Genesis UK, stated that the grant provides immediate financial support and ensures more customers can experience electric driving [3]. It's important to note that the Hyundai Electric Grant cannot be claimed retrospectively against previous orders [1].

With additional £500 'summer saving', the cheapest INSTER is now £19,255 for cash payments [1]. As the demand for electric vehicles continues to grow, it's clear that these discounts are making electric driving more accessible and affordable for consumers.

Cars and electric vehicles, in particular, are becoming more accessible due to various discounts offered by manufacturers. Hyundai, for example, is providing £1,500 off the KONA Electric, IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6, and IONIQ 9, and a substantial £3,750 off the INSTER, while other home-and-garden or lifestyle improvements may have to wait, as car-maintenance costs might be reduced by these grants.
