Pillerseetal, a quiet 15-kilometre valley nestled between Fieberbrunn and Waidring, has long been a winter sports retreat. For over a century, its pristine cross-country trails and compact ski resort have drawn enthusiasts seeking a mix of tradition and adventure.
The valley’s appeal lies in its direct link to the sprawling Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn ski circuit. This vast network spans 270 kilometres of slopes, offering skiers endless variety. Nearby, Fieberbrunn itself serves as a gateway to the circuit, while also boasting 100 kilometres of groomed cross-country trails. Among these, the Dominik Landertinger Trail stands out—a demanding route stretching from Fieberbrunn to Hochfilzen.
Elsewhere, Hinterstoder in the Pyhrn-Priel region presents a different kind of charm. Though compact, its 39 kilometres of pistes cater to cross-country skiers looking for untouched landscapes. The main valley trail follows the Steyr river, while the Hutterer Böden loop, a short but scenic 3-4.4-kilometre route, sits high above, accessible by gondola or toll road.

The Ramsau area, in particular, hosts major sporting events and rewards visitors with sweeping high-altitude views. Meanwhile, Saalfelden and Leogang form another strong pairing: Saalfelden offers 130 kilometres of cross-country routes, while Leogang connects skiers to the same expansive Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn network.
