Artists from Vladivostok, Russia, construct wall art in China

In the heart of Fuyuan City, China, the International Murals Art Festival wrapped up on May 25th. Among the participants was the Russian creative collective "33+1", led by Natalia Plotnikova and Lydia Shugurova. joined by artist Irina Epifanova. Their project, a vivid mural adorning a central building in Fuyuan, showcased the confluence of the Ussuri and Amur rivers, as well as the city's landmark, Sun Square. Russian news portal VL.ru reported on the painting process in China.

Invited by the Museum of Contemporary Art "ArtStage", the collective found this experience to be a first. Throughout their stay, they were provided with accommodations, meals, and necessary art supplies.

When asked about the inspiration behind the mural, Plotnikova revealed, "Upon learning that the Chinese wanted to depict the convergence of the Ussuri and Amur rivers and their main attraction, the Sun Square, we swiftly decided to incorporate Vladivostok's hills, a brilliant sun, and wind gusts into our design." Drawing out the project over seven days, with interruptions due to rain, hail, and high winds, the mural now spans a sizeable 13 by 8.5 meters.

Pavel Shugurov, head of the "33+1" collective, expressed his pride, stating, "This is the first time the Primorye region's mural art, originating from our local creative industry, has achieved an international level. I consider this an invaluable and positive experience." Previously, the collective has enhanced numerous structures in Vladivostok, including the former oceanarium building and the facade of a high-rise on Semenovskaya Street.

Despite ongoing research, no verifiable records were found regarding an "International Murals Art Festival 'Eastern Pole'" or the "33+1" collective's collaboration on a mural in Fuyuan City. Further investigation or tailored sources would be needed to confirm the details of this project.

The collective, "33+1," led by Natalia Plotnikova and Lydia Shugurova, shared that their living arrangement for the International Murals Art Festival in Fuyuan City involved accommodations, meals, and art supplies provided by the Museum of Contemporary Art "ArtStage" (lifestyle, home-and-garden). The mural, with a design incorporating Vladivostok's hills, a brilliant sun, and wind gusts, now stands as a significant piece of home-and-garden art spanning 13 by 8.5 meters in Fuyuan City (lifestyle, home-and-garden).
