Aquatic instruction programmes for refugee minors and adolescents
In the heart of Wiesbaden, a new initiative is set to make a splash. The Wiesbaden Swimming Project for refugee children, funded by the Wiesbaden Economic Forum e.V., is all set to begin on Monday, August 25, at the ESWE leisure pool.
The project, aimed at teaching refugee children and young people to swim safely, is more than just a swimming course. It's a step towards inclusion, a way to foster confidence, and a means to promote physical health and well-being.
Christoph Eichler, President of Wiesbaden Swimming Club 1911 e.V., has emphasized the club's commitment to integrating refugees through sport. This commitment is evident in the club's provision of a new sporting home for a group of refugee Ukrainian elite swimmers.
The swimming courses for children aged 10 to 15 will be conducted by qualified trainers from Wiesbaden Swimming Club 1911 e.V., ensuring a high standard of instruction. A further swimming course for children aged 5 to 8 will start on Saturday, August 30, at the Kleinfeldchen.
The Wiesbaden Economic Forum e.V. views social engagement as a conviction, not a duty. They have demonstrated their commitment to the project by funding it beyond the initial 10 children. Learning to swim, according to the Forum, means not only safety but also inclusion.
The city's social and administrative services are ensuring the target group is reached for the new swimming courses. Citizens can contact the relevant department or office of the State Capital Wiesbaden for any questions.
Dr. Patricia Becher, representing the Magistrate and the City of Wiesbaden, has highlighted the importance of the project. She expressed gratitude for the exceptional commitment of all those involved in the project. The initiative is part of the Wiesbaden Economic Forum e.V.'s commitment to education, integration, and equal opportunities.
The project is expected to build confidence, inclusion, and joy among the participants. It's more than just a swimming lesson; it's a journey towards a more inclusive and healthier Wiesbaden.
- The Wiesbaden Economic Forum e.V.'s commitment extends beyond swimming lessons, as they envision the project as a step towards education and self-development for the refugee children.
- As the swimming project progresses, outdoor-living and home-and-garden can be encouraged through activities that promote physical health and well-being, such as picnics and garden visits.
- To further foster integration and equal opportunities, the participants could be introduced to learning resources that focus on lifestyle and culture within the city of Wiesbaden, providing a holistic approach to their education and development.
