Apple Enthusiasts' Delight: 'Apple Day' in Gießen Marks 1250 Years Wieseck
Apple enthusiasts in Gießen are in for a treat this October. 'Apple Day', organized by the Obst- und Garten-Verein Wieseck e. V. and the Streuobst-AG of the city, will showcase a vast array of apple varieties, marking the anniversary year '1250 years Wieseck'.
The event, held on Sunday, October 5, 2025, from 1 to 5 pm at the Saalbau Schepers, promises a delightful experience for all. Around 2,500 apple varieties will be on display, including well-known and lesser-known types. A pomologist will be present to help visitors identify their favourite apples.
In addition to the apple exhibition, various organizations will be participating. BUND, INGE e. V., and a beekeepers' association will be there, offering insights into their work. Children can also engage in a fun activity, making nesting aids for garden birds with the environmental department of the city of Gießen.
'Apple Day' 2025 is organized by a young start-up from Darmstadt, comprised of current and former students with a knack for creative event concepts. The event will take place in multiple bars across Gießen.
